Shands Hospital, Modular MRI / CT Building

• 8 Modular Units totaling 5,300 s.f. medical space housing the most advanced Siemens MRI and CT diagnostic equipment.
• The facility was fully operational and accepting patients in only four months after work started.
• The modular components were custom fabricated off-site and trucked over-the-road to the site where they were off-loaded and set in place using a 550-ton crane.
• ​Each unit was specially constructed utilizing a heavy tube steel skeleton with concrete floors and a steel roof deck to hold up to the extreme loading associated with shipping and handling as well as the weight of the new medical equipment.
• Special features included copper RF shielding for the MRI, lead shielding for the CT, complete emergency generator backup power, medical gases, and redundant cooling systems.
• Maintained a safe site throughout construction with no injuries or incidents.
